Deniz Derbent is a visual communication designer and media artist. Deniz Derbent is a visual communication designer and media artist. She graduated from Istanbul Bilgi University Visual Communication Design Department in 2017. In 2018 she moved to Berlin and has since earned a Master Degree in the area of digital installations. Creatively, her work has focused on graphic design, morphing along the way into physical works of new media art, for which she independently managed production and installation. Her works have been displayed at a number of festivals and venues internationally such as Contemporary Istanbul, Gaia Gallery, Mamut Art Project, Studio-X Istanbul, Sónar+D, whiteBOX München, erstererster Berlin, and Planetarium at the Islander / Wilhelm Foerster Observatory Berlin. In 2017, she collaborated with 11 local artists and Squidsoup (UK) for the AltCity Istanbul artist residency program co-held by British Council, Digilogue, and Zorlu Holding. Additionally, she has worked in a professional capacity with organizations in the music industry in Berlin and Istanbul as an art director, designer, and videographer, including with Sound Ports Istanbul, Moment Festival, XJAZZ online festival, and Postklub. She has also previously organized an event series, Assembly Station, within Istanbul’s electronic music scene.
